Scientists on the planet Delta IV were studying a distant Rimworld star system when they noticed an anamoly in their data for one of the worlds. Taking an interest in the Rimworld the scientists turned their telescopes to focus on the planet.
The scientists discoved that a supervolcano had erupted and spilled a tremendous amount of ash and debris into the atmosphere, blocking the sun. Too make it harder for the inhabitants, other volcanos, shaken awake by the eruption, were also now beginning to erupt, though their ash would wash easily out of the atmosphere for some unknown reason. To try and gather data to send to the Glitterworld government, the scientists chose a tribe to study and see how they dealt with the coming climate change.
