Start with one colonist, and no other items. A couple of events have been cut out because I simply find these annoying, and not a good type of annoying. Animal butchering is also a bit better, you're a tribesman, of course you're better than your average spacer with animals.
(I highly suggest Tribal mods and GHXX Tech Advancing, GHXX makes it so that when you research all items at a specific tech level, your tech level is risen. EX, if I research all neolithic tasks, then I am now in the medieval stages, and those tasks take less work.)
